Here are some essential links to resources we’ll be using throughout the course:
- Yoknapedia: wikipedia-style resource we’ll add to during the course guiding readers through Faulkner’s fiction. Note: I may migrate to the Commons for simpler student editing, so stay tuned.
- Zotero folder on Faulkner: collection of secondary sources that will be valuable in researching any aspect of Faulkner’s life and work.
- Faulkner’s People: When working on Yoknapedia entries, you may find this oldie but goodie useful in getting a quick handle on characters. It’s available in fulltext on Hathi Trust: be sure to cite properly!
- The Digital Yoknapatawpha project created at UVA with NEH funding: marvelous collections of texts, maps, charts, genealogies and more.
- Other places to browse include: Faulkner’s entry in Wikipedia and the Faulkner at Virginia audio archive, which features recordings of Faulkner’s various lectures and Q/A sessions at UVA in the 1950s.
- The WordPress Codex is one-stop shopping for all WP-related problems and tips. Novices might start with the excellent and brief video on publishing posts, and those who want more options/detail could move on to the introduction to blogging and then the “get published” lesson: both contain way more detail than you need, since I’ve configured everything and you just need to enter text. But for those who are curious, or who might like to include links, images, etc. in a given post, it’s very helpful.
